Long before we planned on pouring cocktails and hosting open mic nights, this building was part of Buchanan’s industrial heartbeat. Originally constructed in 1916, it served as a space for local manufacturing—a crucial part of the railroad-driven economy that helped shape our small town into a bustling hub of industry and innovation.

The proximity to rail lines made this site ideal for shipping and receiving goods, contributing to the economic growth of Buchanan and surrounding areas. You can still see the remnants of that era: the heavy steel beams, original clear story windows, and even the oldest screw-driven elevator in the state of Michigan that we’ve intentionally preserved as part of our design.

Reclaiming the Past

When we first laid eyes on the space, we saw more than just old cinder blocks and dust—we saw potential. We knew that if we could breathe new life into this building while keeping its character intact, it could become a place where the past and present come together in meaningful ways.

So, we got to work. From re-installing large windows in their original locations to repurposing materials from the area, we approached the renovation with respect for what this space once was. Our aim wasn’t to erase its history, but to write a new chapter—one that includes all of you.
